Plan Padrino is a program run by the YMCA in Ibagué, Colombia. This program provides educational assistance for 110 of the neediest students in the city. To qualify for aid, which can take the form of uniforms, supplies, transportation, homework assistance, or school fees, Plan Padrino applicants must demonstrate a significant commitment to educational excellence.
The Tennessee YMCA Center for Civic Engagement has partnered with Plan Padrino for the last 18 years to support 40 of these Colombian students. Students involved with Tennessee YMCA Center for Civic Engagement programs raise money throughout the year to support the Plan Padrino program.
